7 Ways To Shop For Insurance

      By admin | December 12, 2007

If you really want the lowest insurance quotes, you must do your best to do extensive shopping. Extensive shopping can be done in any of the following ways.

      1) A very reliable option is asking those whom you know you can trust — People who are already your friends and acquaintances. Their experience with past and present insurers will help you make very informed choices. Your search for the best insurer for you if they rave about their agent and/or insurer. All you’d have to do is simply shortlist them as great options for you.

Although it does make sense to use an agent that has been raved about by your friend, it also pays to shortlist more than one great agent. This will ensure you do better comparison for better service and rates. Get and compare quotes from as many recommended agents as possible. Discuss with each of them, see their attitude, and who has the best offers. Although this method is very effective, it will take quite a bit of time to complete.

      2) You can get agents by going through the Yellow Pages. You can use this as a starting point but make sure you are a lot more careful in settling for an agent this way. There are a few challenges like the fact that it will take you more to ascertain their reputation and quality of service.

      3) Every state has a department that is responsible for insurance there and are always there for you, the consumer. If you want unbiased information you can rely on, this is where to go. The more you know what you should in insurance, the better the price/value you will get.

      4) You can make your shopping a lot more fruitful by reading through consumer guides. You’ll get price ranges for your insurance policies. They also offer great advice that will help you save and get the best value in insurance. Treat the prices you see in consumer guides as estimates only. You could pay much more or less depending on your peculiar needs, profile and who you buy from. To do your shopping right you’d have to get quotes from at least three agents. If you want the best then you have no option but to get many quotes.

      5) If you have an agent for an existing policy whose service you are satisfied with, ask them for a quote. Don’t get quotes from just one agent. No matter how great their service is. You can always get better deals. Though it will be more demanding, you’ll always guarantee better results by getting many quotes.

      6) If you can, call insurance companies directly and request for quotes. Don’t forget to get quotes from as many insurers as possible. A thorough comparison of quotes returned will increase your chances of getting the best price/value.

      7) Visit at least three good insurance quotes sites and request for quotes. This is because insurance companies not represented by one site would be represented by the other. This gives you a broader basis for doing more thorough comparisons thus increasing your chances of realizing more savings.
